Is it time for a new job?

Finding a fulfilling career can be a long journey to say the least. Few people enter the workplace knowing what they want to do by the time they are 50. In fact, the average 50-year old has had 12 different jobs in their lifetime. If you want to make sure that the job you have now is a good fit, so you don’t have to waste your time in a dead-end job, then this guide will help you to find out everything you need to know.

You’re Complacent

With every day that goes by, you may feel somewhat disconnected from the reason why you entered the workplace. You may feel as though you have checked out mentally and that you are also underperforming too. It might be that your deadlines are slipping and that you are not able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If this is the case, then you may need to make a change. Everyone gets like this from time to time, but if you feel as though this has been going on a little too long then now is the time for you to make a positive change.

You Don’t think you Are Making an Impact

Your job duties are probably the same, day after day. You may think that every day looks identical and that you are simply running on autopilot. At times, you may feel undervalued as well. This can make you feel as though your talents are being wasted and this won’t be doing you any favors. If you want to do something about this then now is the time for you to go and develop some new skills. You also need to try and make some meaningful contributions to your workplace. If you don’t feel as though there is room for you to do this, then now is the time for you to make a change. If you are struggling with stress and anxiety then it may be worth exploring things like CBD gummies for anxiety. This will help you to function at a higher level and it will also help you to move past any mental barriers you might have.

You Don't Feel Safe At Your Workplace

In previous years, workplace safety and comfort concerns were limited to things such as harassment and the physical dangers of being hurt. Today though many men are being forced to return to work in situations that simply aren't safe yet due to concerns about spreading COVID. Unfortunately refusing to return to work doesn't allow you to seek unemployment support in most instances and so that's a pretty big sign that now might be a good time to look for a new job.

You Dread going to Work

Everyone has days from time to time when they hit the snooze button a few too many times.  If you feel as though you just can’t be bothered with work or if you feel intense anxiety every time you think about work, then this would indicate that you are not in a good position with work. It may be that you are not satisfied with the role you have, or that you need to try and explore a job that relates much more closely with your passions.

Your Salary Does Not Match your Satisfaction

The pay for your position might be very good, but if you are experiencing a mindless or dreadful workday, then this isn’t good for you at all.  You may find yourself watching the clock go by and that you are putting marks in your calendar until you can next take a vacation. Either way, you probably do appreciate the stability that you have from your job, but this is no good if you are stuck wasting your potential. This shows that you need to make a change, and quickly.

Your Job Is Affecting your Personal Life

Work should challenge you, but it should never be debilitating. If you find that you are experiencing chronic exhaustion and just losing sleep all the time, then this means that you may not be in the right job. You may find that you experience headaches and that you also experience things like stress. If you are stressed out permanently then this can also impact the relationship that you have with your family and your friends and this is the last thing that you need. If you want to change this then you need to find out what exactly about your job is causing you to feel this way. You also need to find out if there is anything that you can do to change that. It may be that you need to chat with your boss about your role, or that you need to transition into another department. If this is not possible, then you need to move to another company completely, so you can find someone who understands the position you are in as well as being able to offer you practical solutions that could change your life for the better.
